Welcome to the Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.

G R E E T I N G S

On behalf of The Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, I am immensely honored and humbled to welcome you to our official chapter website. Chartered on May 25th, 1928, The Eta Zeta Chapter boasts as the home of some amazingly courageous sorors, championing the elevation of the vision of our Illustrious Founders’; Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts. The Eta Zeta Chapter has served as a community vanguard, unapologetically commanding the space where justice is to be served, the voiceless to be heard, and the powerless to be empowered. For almost 100 years, Eta Zeta Chapter has relentlessly served others, helping them to excel beyond their wildest imaginations; locally, regionally, nationally and globally. Additionally, Eta Zeta Chapter proudly aligns with the principles of our sorority; Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love and Finer Womanhood in all endeavors philanthropically and socially.

Eta Zeta Chapter is unique in that we are the oldest graduate chapter out of seven in the Great Lakes Region. The members of our chapter are just as unique as our tenure of existence, in that we range from immediate graduate in collegiate membership to greater than 50 years of service to the sorority and community at-large. Eta Zeta Chapter members have over 100 years of collective professional expertise as doctors, nurses, lawyers, educators, therapist, entrepreneurs, social workers and ultimately some of the greatest change agents noted in sorority history.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to learn more about the amazing programs, initiatives, and community impact that Eta Zeta Chapter is so proud of.

The Finer Pearls Foundation Inc. believes in the edification of all mankind through education of oneself and one’s community.  In order to provide the most relevant and applicable services and provisions for children and families, the foundation will lend support to community, cultural and religious leaders, local policy makers, as well as practitioners in the healthcare industry, school system, and other human services associations.  The foundation understands that comprehensive partnerships begin because individuals reach out to like minded people and groups, and will strive to do so with those who are focused most specifically on addressing issues impacting scholarship, youth and service to others.

Our Founders

History

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded January 16, 1920, at Howard University, Washington, D.C.During this time five coeds envisioned a sorority which would directly affect positive change, chart a course of action for the 1920s and beyond, raise consciousness of their people, encourage the highest standards of scholastic achievement, and foster a greater sense of unity among its members.  These women believed that sorority elitism and socializing overshadowed the real mission for progressive organizations and failed to address fully the societal mores, ills, prejudices, and poverty affecting humanity in general and the black community in particular.

Since its inception, Zeta has continued its steady climb into the national spotlight with programs designed to demonstrate concern for the human condition both nationally and internationally.  The organization has been innovative in that it has chronicled a number of firsts.  It was the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to centralize its operations in a national headquarters, first to charter a chapter in Africa, first to form auxiliary groups, and first to be constitutionally bound to a fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.   The sorority takes pride in its continued participation in transforming communities through volunteer services from members and its auxiliaries.  Zeta Phi Beta has chartered hundreds of chapters worldwide and has a membership of 100,000+.

Zeta‘s national and local programs include the endowment of its National Educational Foundation community outreach services and support of multiple affiliate organizations.  Zeta chapters and auxiliaries have given un-totaled hours of voluntary service to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships, support organized charities, and promote legislation for social and civic change.
